Danspace Project has commissioned over 450 works since 1994. This year, as part of Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP), we present two evenings of work by choreographers who have received Bessies (NY Dance and Performance Awards) for Danspace commissions.
On this special occasion, Tere O’Connor presents a low-tech version of his latest work, Bleed, which recently premiered at Brooklyn Academy of Music Next Wave Festival. Bleed collapses recent dances Secret Mary, poem, and Sister, into a single hybrid creation. With each piece lending its own unique dancers, ideas, and approaches, Bleed forms a serendipitous new choreographic language.
Bleed is commissioned by Brooklyn Academy of Music Next Wave Festival.
Tere O'Connor has been presented at Danspace Project on numerous occasions and received Bessie Awards for his Danspace commission Heaven Up North (1988), as well the Sustained Achievement Award (1999). His Cover Boy premiered at Danspace in 2011.
