ALTOSTRATUS: AN ALLEGORY by OKWUI OKPOKWASILI

October 9, 2020

ALTOSTRATUS: AN ALLEGORY is a video work by performance maker Okwui Okpokwasili with collaborating artist, Peter Born.

ALTOSTRATUS CLOUDS ARE GREY OR BLUE GREY.

THE SUN OR MOON MAY SHINE THROUGH THESE CLOUDS

BUT IT’S SIGNALING THAT A STORM IS ON THE WAY.

THIS IS A PIECE INVOLVING MOVEMENT, SOUND, AND TEXT.

IT IS MEANT TO HOLD A SPACE FOR REFLECTION,

TO CONSIDER WHAT HANGS ABOVE US AND HOW IT ALL MAY FALL.

Text & Choreography: Okwui Okpokwasili

Videography and Sound: Peter Born

This artwork was commissioned for the ENTER project, an initiative of Onassis Foundation.

A special thank you to the team at the Onassis Foundation USA.
