Okwui Okpokwasili’s “Bronx Gothic”: a new documentary at Film Forum
July 7, 2017
In 2014 we had the pleasure of commissioning and presenting, along with PS122’s COIL Festival, Okwui Okpokwasili’s Bronx Gothic. The work garnered a 2014 New York Dance and Performance “Bessie” Award for Outstanding Production and subsequently embarked on an international tour. We’re thrilled to announce that filmmaker Andrew Rossi has created a documentary about Okpokwasili’s Bronx Gothic tour!
Critic Eva Yaa Asantewaa recently wrote of the film, “I rank Bronx Gothic up there with Raoul Peck’s I Am Not Your Negro as another urgent, earthshaking documentary that must be seen and must be discussed.” View the trailer below:
Join us at Film Forum from July 12 – July 25th to re-experience Okpokwasili’s hauntingly beautiful Bronx Gothic with a behind-the-scenes look at the tour, and celebrate this outstanding artist!
