Yoko Ono, 1964.

Xaviera Simmons will be performing Yoko Ono’s famous score for “Cut Piece” on Sunday, November 17th.  The piece is presented by Danspace Project at Industry City as part of a two-part series, Performing the Precarious.  The full score:

CUT PIECE (1964)

Performer sits on stage with pair of scissors placed in front of him.
It is announced that members of the audience may come on stage – one at a time – to cut a small piece of the performer’s clothing to take with them.
Performer remains motionless throughout the piece.
Piece ends at the performers option.
