Laure Prouvost on “From the Sky”
April 24, 2014
My most significant artistic influence is my grand dad, because he was so dedicated at digging his conceptual tunnel. – Laure Prouvost
Laure Prouvost’s installation Wantee, which garnered her the 2013 Turner Prize, envisioned a fictional relationship between Prouvost’s grandfather and artist Kurt Schwitters. With From the Sky, a performance mixing video, music, and live narrative, Prouvost invokes and considers the impoverished specter of her invented grandfather, a conceptual artist.
From the Sky premieres at Danspace Project tonight and tomorrow at 8pm.
