ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Emma Cohen is a dance artist from Chicago. She has performed with Gillian Walsh, Ligia Lewis, and GREYZONE, among others. She is currently pursuing a PhD in literature. Neal Medlyn is an ordained performance artist who has done hundreds of shows with Gillian Walsh in over 25 cities in the last ten plus years. This is his first dance since idk 2012 or somethin. Philip Moore is a performer and native New Yorker. He has worked with New York City Players since 2009, performing in their productions of ADDS and Neutral Hero. He also performs with the Wooster Group, where he has appeared in The Room and The B-Sides. In 2015 he appeared in New York(s), a video installation by Emmanuelle Huynh and Jocelyn Cottencin. Most recently, he performed in Richard Maxwell’s Field of Mars. Brianna Lux is a dancer and choreographer currently based in New York. Recently, she has performed with Gillian Walsh, Neal Medlyn, Beth Soll & Company, and Salvatore LaRussa Dance Theater. A teaching artist for Paul Taylor Dance Company’s educational outreach program, she holds a Certificate in Dance from The Ailey School. Gillian Walsh is a choreographer and performer from Brooklyn, NY. She has presented work at Gropius Bau, The Kitchen, Performance Space New York, Performa, Danspace Project, New York Live Arts, and other spaces. Over the past decade she has worked with a range of artists both as a performer and collaborator; she currently works with Richard Maxwell, Sarah Michelson, and Neal Medlyn. Carol Mullins first designed lighting at Danspace for Andy de Groat in 1978. She designed lighting for Gillian Walsh's Moon Fate Sin at Danspace in 2017. She has received 3 Bessies, (Dance and Performance Awards) and one Obie. New York City Players (inc 1999) is a theater company about people, relationships, and above all, feeling. nycplayers.org

Wilderness is commissioned, presented, and premiered by Danspace Project and is co-produced by New York City Players, with support from the Crowley Theater and First Presbyterian Marfa. The project was developed, in part, through Danspace Project’s inaugural Renewal Residency, and a Danspace Residency in partnership with the Petronio Residency Center (supported with funds from NYS DanceForce, a program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature), and a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Arts Center Residency program. This project was also supported by a Late Stage Mertz Gilmore Grant and was developed in mini residencies at 411 Kent and The Watermill Center and supported by an FCA Emergency Grant. In-progress showings of this work were presented in Marfa, TX at First Presbyterian Marfa, and Tulsa, OK at OK #1 Gallery.
