Each of the 12 artists in PLATFORM 2015: Dancers, Buildings and People in the Streets received the following invitation from curator Claudia La Rocco to contribute a self portrait, of sorts, to the Platform 2015 publication. Here, Sterling Hyltin shares “Of Vital Essence: A Rube Goldberg, Ballet Class Inspired Journey to Dance in New York City.”

Sterling Hyltin was born in Amarillo, Texas and received her ballet training at the Etgen-Atkinson School of Ballet in Dallas, Texas. She moved to New York City in 2000 to continue her studies at The School of American Ballet. Ms. Hyltin is currently a Principal dancer with the New York City Ballet.

Sterling Hyltin collaborates with Jodi Melnick on Thursday-Saturday this week! Tickets are selling fast! Read more about their “Dance Dialogue” presentation  here.
