Benon is a new duet by distinguished choreographer Souleymane "Solo" Badolo, inspired by the Burkinabé tradition of dancing to celebrate the harvest.

In Benon, which roughly translates to "harvest," Badolo explores the essential nature of food, sharing, and giving thanks. Badolo has appeared in the work of Nora Chipaumire, Reggie Wilson, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, and a host of renowned choreographers. This time around, Badolo creates solos for Charmaine Warren, a revered performer, curator, historian, writer, professor, and longtime company member of david roussève/REALITY (1989-2000).

Badolo is a Bessie-winning choreographer and dancer originating from Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. In 1993, he founded the Burkina Faso-based troupe, Kongo Ba Téria, which fuses traditional African dances with western contemporary dance. He has performed and presented his work at Danspace Project on several occasions including new work during PLATFORM 2010: i get lost, curated by Ralph Lemon, and PLATFORM 2012: Parallels, curated by Ishmael Houston-Jones.
