Constellations and Influences: Vicky Shick

April 12, 2016

Vicky Shick and Dancers by Anjola Toro.

What web of connections do new generations of artists trace? Who are their influences? Since 2012 we have explored artistic constellations and lineages by asking each artist to share a significant artistic influence.

“I don’t actually think about influences – there are just so many people, ideas, things, happenings everywhere and all the time—too many to mention. I do think about inspirations, even though there’s too much of those too. I am forever inspired by the wildness, daring, experimentation, perseverance, sophistication, imagination and just plain guts of the workers in this downtown performance community. I am in awe of it and of them. And then there is so much else.”
