A tropical storm came and left New York City as I prepared in my Brooklyn apartment to interview dear friend, Artist, and Organizer, Yves B. Golden over Zoom. Yves finished a smoke in the backyard of her sunny LA rental as we spent time together in virtual states of glitch, shuffling around, to find spacial coordination for optimal connection before hitting record.

This interview follows the recent Danspace Project release of Petrichor, a three person collaborative video project in which Golden directed. “Petrichor” is also the title of the poem, written by Golden, that inspired this collaboration. In this conversation, Yves speaks to rain and water, time and fluidity, her latest publication: “Good Fist of Creation,” her recent co-founding of the Herbal Mutual Aid Network, and the video, dance, sound, and poetry of Petrichor. The conversation concludes with Yves reading an excerpt of the poem.

In addition to the breadth of this multi-tiered project, the word petrichor calls to the aromatic evidence of rain in the wake of its falling.
