Danspace Project and Center for Art, Research and Alliances​ (CARA) celebrate the release of​ Danspace’s latest publication, Reassembly: Field Notes for Unknowing, with an evening of readings and presentations by devynn emory, Samita Sinha, Joseph M. Pierce, David Thomson, and Danspace’s Judy Hussie-Taylor and Seta Morton. Drinks and refreshments will be served.

Between 2021-23 Danspace Project (Lenapehoking/NYC) collaborated with Artist Research Fellows devynn emory, Okwui Okpokwasili, Samita Sinha, and David Thomson, initiating the Center for Dialogue & Exchange in the Arts (CDEA), a research initiative addressing the relationship between artistic inquiry and performance practice. “We started this process with a big question: What does generational change look like…how might it inform the future of our field?” said Hussie-Taylor during a June 10th public gathering. “What shifts need to happen in our interactions and exchanges and practices?” Reassembly: Field Notes for Unknowing offers a glimpse into this years-long dialogue and includes reflective essays, resources, and transcripts of select conversations between the Fellows and other artists, writers, scholars, and educators that took place during CDEA’s inaugural events.

Reassembly consists of “musings on artistic transmission and institutional transactions, scores for our organs, financial literacy resources, books and podcast recommendations, questions for stargazing,” writes editor Seta Morton, Danspace’s Program Director & Associate Curator. This  “unruly collection of prompts for unknowing” reflects on the relationship between artists and arts institutions, sustainability, and healthcare for artists.
