Legacy Russell:
My significant artistic influences are found in everyday habits—adjusting brastraps, dancing in the shower, drinking with friends. My role models are vast but early on I found inspiration rooted in the fabric of the East Village and Lower East Side, where I was born and raised, and where my parents still reside. I am inspired by the communities native to these spaces—Lower East Side boricuas, radical queers, downtown drag queens, skate and punk kids. Why? Because the history of New York City’s dancehalls and nightlife spaces would be nothing without them.
