Questions From The Chorus

What does it mean to weave a collective song?

How do we vibrate and move together?

What is possible when we hum, utter, and gesture together?

How does the process of collaborative participation forge a transformational space for healing?

How does somatic practice generate new relationships between voice and body?

What are the politics of moving and sounding together?

How does poetic utterance bridge the internal self into public realm?

How do you sustain vulnerability in an exchange that becomes public?

Is the task to make medicine? [1]

The text above has been taken from, PLATFORM 2020: Utterances From The Chorus, Vol I. Please follow this link to purchase the catalogue.

These lines of inquiry were originally synthesized by Curatorial Fellow, Kristin Juarez, from notes by Judy Hussie-Taylor and Seta Morton of early Platform conversations with Okwui Okpokwasili. These questions have been recirculating throughout the curatorial process and shared amongst the Danspace Research Groups, many of the Platform artists, collaborators, staff, and writers.

[1] This last question was posed by artist and Voice & Body Research Group member, Samita Sinha, in response to the list of questions above it, in a private conversation in spring 2019.
