NIGHTWOOD by choreographer Jordan Demetrius Lloyd is a live performance work exploring how repetition becomes a quiet insistence, how sustained physical effort approaches devotion, and how subtle spatial changes can alter the emotional and social atmosphere of a room. Performed by Justin Faircloth, Wendell Gray II, Dorchel Haqq, and Jordan Demetrius Lloyd, in NIGHTWOOD, choreographer Jordan Demetrius Lloyd develops tightly structured pathways that require continuous negotiation, producing near-miss encounters that generate tension, alignment, and pause. Rather than presenting spirituality as the theme, Lloyd investigates how carefully structured compositional changes might generate sensations of intimacy, ecstasy, collective attention, and belief. NIGHTWOOD asks whether choreography can quietly cast a space into something new, allowing audiences to experience transformation not as spectacle, but as something that gradually unfolds with and around them through sustained attention.
Pioneers Go East Collective’s My name’sound is an dance-theater and film inspired by James Baldwin’s “The Artist’s Struggle for Integrity” and writings by Audre Lorde. A meditation on creative agency and Queer Black identity, the work supports and amplifies contemporary stories of resilience and otherness amidst censorship, and investigates the nexus of Queer intimacy, physical embodiment, and media to reflect on the legacy of LGBTQ+ icons. Choreographer: Symara Sarai. Director, filmmaker, archival research: Gian Marco Riccardo Lo Forte. Composer: syd island. Production design: Philip Treviño. Installation: Mark Tambella. Cinematographers: Azmi Mert Erdem and Michael Wilson. Performed by syd island (composer/performance artist), Symara Sarai (choreographer/ performance artist), Joey Kipp (writer/ performance artist), Ogemdi Ude (performance artist), Daniel Diaz (performance artist), Darren Wright (performance artist), and Jessica Lurie (saxophone/ composer). Richard Morales (featured in film). Agosto Machado (featured in film). This project was developed with residencies at BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music), BRICLab, and CPR in 2022-24.
ABYSS by slowdanger, is an iterative and site-specific dance and sound performance examining our bodies’ (abysses) states of being within public structures and their relationship to other bodies, sites, vibrations, grooves, physical labor, absurdity, power and release. The work investigates how we perform ourselves in club and social spaces as we linger in the decay of a post-industrial capitalist hellscape. Choreography, direction, and film by slowdanger. Performed by anna thompson and taylor knight. Music by slowdanger. Costumes by Mad Recital.
All general admission tickets are offered at a sliding scale $20–$100, pay what you can. Please consider that ticket sales support the artist and production costs. Thank you!

ABYSS by slowdanger
slowdanger – anna thompson and taylor knight are co-founding artistic director of slowdanger, a multidisciplinary performance entity creating experiences at the intersection of contemporary performance, experimental music, and technology founded in Pittsburgh, PA USA. Crawling out of the fractured infrastructure of Appalachian and Mid-Atlantic Rust belts, their name was inspired by the Pittsburgh road construction signs that signify a demolition of old surfaces to build upon the remnants. They return to this overarching concept cyclically in performance creation; deconstructing, rebuilding, slowing down to examine the remains and re-imagine new futures. From engaging a multi-channel sound installation to teaching dance at a queer rave in the woods, they transform their shape to adapt to a variety of different containers. slowdanger has performed across North America and Europe in venues ranging from proscenium theater and museum to nightclub and dive bar. Their work is responsive to site and interrogates the architectural, social, and systemic intersections of location through adaptive and concept touring models. slowdanger has received support from the Finnish Cultural Foundation, New Music USA, Foundation for Contemporary Arts, NEFA/National Dance Project, and more. Their work has been shared at Jacob’s Pillow, the Warhol Museum, Honcho Campout, the Flea, Hirshhorn Museum, and more.
