Center for Dialogue and Exchange in the Arts (CDEA) |sēd-ē-ä| is a creative incubator and an experiment at the intersection of artistic practice and expansive thinking. Danspace Project unveils CDEA with this inaugural Assembly, a day of collective thinking, discussion, attunement, celebration, and breaking bread, organized and hosted by 2021-2023 Danspace Project Research Fellows devynn emory, Okwui Okpokwasili, Samita Sinha, and David Thomson. The day will include a special performance from internationally renowned musician and founder of Red Baraat, Sunny Jain.

In 2021, Danspace invited the Fellows to work over an extended period with Danspace’s curatorial team: Judy Hussie-Taylor & Seta Morton. The group has met monthly over the past two years, discussing curatorial and editorial ideas, and developing the next steps for CDEA.

The Fellows will take over St. Mark’s Church in-the-Bowery for the day, beginning with a performance by Jain, and a roundtable discussion. The day will proceed with sessions throughout the Church campus guided by each Fellow.
